Transport Minister Omar Algabra says the federal government is working with on-site teams to resolve “bottlenecks” in air transport in time for busy summer.
“We identify these areas. It is vital for me to act quickly and be prepared for the summer season, “he told CTV News Channel’s Power Play on Friday.
Algabra added that the Canadian Air Security Authority will return to its full staff by the end of June, after withdrawing an additional 400 staff.
“They are almost close to full employment,” he said. “They will be fully occupied, as they were before the pandemic.”
The news comes amid reports of long queues at airport security checkpoints and border checkpoints.
Algabra said that the increase in travel leads to “traffic jams” in all aspects of travel.
