Sailors off the coasts of Spain and Portugal have been warned to be vigilant following an increase in killer whale attacks. Last week, a single group or killer whale was thought to have shut down two yachts in one day.
On Monday afternoon, Spanish lifeboat Salvamar Enif towed the 15-meter (49-foot) yacht Alboran Champagne to safety, then went out to sea that night to rescue three crews from Cachaca in the same area. In both cases, the killer whales rammed and broke the rudders of the yachts.
