Rapists snatched a girl from her mother’s arms and threatened to kill her

Three thieves attacked a family home and threatened to kill a baby if the mother did not give them gold.

Three men broke into the family home in Wrexham in broad daylight and came face to face with the owner of the house, Berinder Delival. One of the thieves snatched her little girl from her arms as they stripped the victim’s jewelry, including the wedding ring.

Ms Dhaliwal, who had undergone a caesarean section just weeks earlier, was also punched in the abdomen. The rapists threatened to kill her baby if she did not say where her gold was stored. Ms. Delival pointed to the jewelry box the thugs had taken before fleeing.

Today, 22-year-old John Price admitted that he conspired to commit a robbery and helped the offender by preventing his detention. Scott Powell, 23, of Y Wern in Wrexham, who helped move the getaway car, admitted the same allegations. 19-year-old Patrick Flynn of Station Court in Gwersyllt pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.

Mold Crown Court heard today how thieves planned to attack a house in Wrexham, reconnoitering a property in a white van, before stopping shortly before 2:30 p.m. in September 2020. Men wearing surgical masks and dark clothes stormed through a glass patio , believing that the house is empty.

But minutes after arriving, they were “shocked” to find Mrs. Delival at the site clutching her baby girl. Prosecutor Simon Mintz said the men “were not deterred from her presence” and instead piled up to grab her jewelry.

North Wales Live reported that Ms Dhaliwal was thrown onto the bed and punched in the abdomen, where her caesarean section wound was still healing. A thief pointed to what the victim thought was a screwdriver and said they would kill the baby if she did not tell them where to look.

The terrified mother took the threat seriously and “begged” them not to hurt her child by directing them to a jewelry box. They wiped the contents before fleeing, leaving the battered and bruised mother of two to report to police.

In a statement on the impact of the victim made in April 2022, the victim described the feeling of “constant anxiety and insomnia”. She now does not wear jewelry and has managed to return to her part-time job as a pharmacist after the accident.

The investigation identified “various items” belonging to the family at Powell’s home, Mr Mintz said. Police also found clothing linking Flynn to the attack, and found that the gang had tried to hide the black Volkswagen at a different address in order to “throw out the police”.

In the following days, the court also heard that Flynn had called his older brother, who is currently in prison for his role in the crime, to talk about the robbery. They were recorded, and I heard him say, “They caught me, didn’t they?”

Carl Wolfe, who is defending Price, said his client was already serving a prison sentence imposed by Luton’s Crown Court on a “series of burglary” he committed after the crime. He was visiting the Wrexham family at the time.

Mr Wolfe told the judge that Price had turned to crime to fund his drug habit, which led him to spend hundreds of pounds a day on a “combination of leg and heroin” to smoke. His imprisonment so far is the longest he has been without drugs.

Defending Flynn, Andrew Green said his client was “a man coming out of his depths” when he joined the attack. He accepts that “his fate is sealed” and that he will spend a long time in prison for these “really horrible acts.”

However, Mr Green said Flynn had come to court to “face the music” and expressed “nothing but sincere remorse”. He told his lawyers he would “give his left hand” to apologize to the victim.

Defending Powell, Matthew Curtis said his client had “limited maturity and sophistication” when he helped hide the car next to his mother’s home after the burglary. He added that Powell was an “ambitious and hard-working young man” who had worked all his life in various industries.

An accused young man, represented by Phil Tully, was not present at the sentencing court. It was explained that the “concerned” family of the 17-year-old had signaled to the legal team that he had disappeared from his home since yesterday (May 30th).

The court heard that he had attended every hearing before and that his actions were “completely uncharacteristic”. Judge Niklas Pari issued an order detaining him and bringing him before the court.

Judge Pari described the attack as a “horrific and extremely serious crime”, which left the victim with “severe psychological damage”. He had no doubt that imprisonment would be the only justified punishment.

He said: “It was a pre-planned attack on a property where you knew an Asian family lived. Therefore, you believed that the gold would be stored there.

“Instead of leaving after confronting a single woman and her two-month-old baby, you called each other and blamed her. You tore a necklace from her neck and a wedding ring from her finger and waved a weapon while she held her baby. “

Price was sentenced to seven and a half years. Flynn was given six years and two months, while Powell was given one year and nine months.
