A man has been arrested in a drug operation on a street level in downtown St. John’s

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a drug trafficking operation in downtown St. John’s.

Police said they first launched an investigation into the operation in April.

They say the plant operated on a street level, which affects the safety and well-being of neighborhood residents.

Police searched a home on Livingston Street on Tuesday night and seized 18.1 grams of cocaine, 140.4 grams of crack, weapons, other items related to drug trafficking and $ 3,100 in cash.

The RNC explains that the drugs were sold on the street as dots or punches in quantities of 0.1 grams. That means 189 cocaine strikes and more than 1,400 leg strikes have been taken off the streets.

As a result, a 21-year-old man was arrested at the Livingstone Street home. He was charged with possession of drugs for trafficking and possession of property acquired through crime. He was detained for trial.

The seizures come after two other subway investigations that led to arrests and seized drugs.

On May 6, the RNC, with the help of postal inspectors at the Canadian Post, seized 3 kilograms of cocaine worth $ 300,000. A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and later released on pending charges.

Then on May 14, the RNC searched a home in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove and seized a pound of cocaine, 600 bolts of acid (LSD), 500 different prescription pills – including Ritalin, Oxycodone and Clonazepam, Brass Bones, Bear Spray. $ 500 in cash and other drug paraphernalia. A suspect has been identified and an investigation is under way.
