Charges brought after a rampage incident on the road in Brampton involving a BB gun

A 39-year-old man has been arrested for making threats during a road rage accident in Brampton while holding a spear gun.

The incident happened around 6 am on Tuesday in the area of Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive. According to investigators, two people were involved in a road accident, and one made threats while holding a BB pistol.

Shortly afterwards, the suspect was arrested for making threats and possessing unauthorized firearms. An employee found a BB pistol located in a holster in the car.

Police say Brampton resident Brendan Deonarin has since been accused of making death threats. He is due to appear in court in August.

In a press release issued Wednesday, investigators warned the public that while it is legal to own BB, pellets or Airsoft pistols, care must be taken not to confuse the public and police with real firearms.

Police say many of these air weapons look like real weapons.
