Celebrations of the Queen’s platinum anniversary began on Thursday, the first day of a four-day celebration in honor of her 70th birthday on the British throne.
Thursday’s main event was Trooping the Color, the annual military parade to mark the monarch’s birthday. Tens of thousands lined the streets of London for the event, much to the delight of the 96-year-old queen, who couldn’t help but smile as she appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the parade.
And while the queen watched from the palace, other members of the royal family watched from the bottom of the road, including two people who had been absent from the Mountbatten-Windsor family for more than two years.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife, Megan, Duchess of Sussex (also known as Megan Markle), were filmed watching a parade with other members of the royal family in a major general’s office overlooking the Horse Guards parade.
Megan was seen playfully silent by 3-year-old Lena Tyndall as young royalty Savannah Phillips, Ayla Phillips and Lena’s sister Mia Tyndall watched and laughed.
