Police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous in the Waterloo area

Waterloo Regional Police released the name and photo of a man believed to be in the region and considered armed and dangerous.

In a press release issued Friday (June 3rd), police said they had reason to arrest Clayton Hartle, 22, in connection with a May 9 incident in downtown Kitchener.

Police in the Queen Street South and Charles Street areas were called tonight for reports of gunfire.

Police then said they had received reports of two black men, one with a gun, fleeing the area before police arrived.

No casualties were reported.

According to police, Hartle is from Coutice, Ont., Just outside Oshawa.

He is described as 5 feet 10, about 165 pounds, with a thin physique and long brown hair.

Police said they had reason to charge him with the following crimes:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Dropping a firearm – recklessness
  • Careless use of firearms, weapons, ammunition
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to the prohibition order
  • Violation of the probation order (two points)
