Two islanders withdrew the $ 2.4 million winning card in the last North Shore Chase the Ace fundraiser.
Annete Diewold and her husband, Russell McKenna, drew an ace of spades, leaving only seven cards in the draw for Saturday’s draw. The pair will leave with $ 2,411,370.
Winnings limit weeks of escalating excitement as more cards were removed and the jackpot continued to rise. The first draw of this edition of Chase the Ace was last February.
Fundraising is organized by the North Star Arena, North Rustico Fire Department and North Rustico, Hunter River, Cymbria and Winsloe Lions Clubs. Organizers say each of the organizations will receive about $ 620,000.
