Mississauga fire and emergency services are responding to a Mississauga city complex for a fire that is causing a mass evacuation.

Police received a call shortly after 2 pm about a fire in a residential building in the area of ​​Glen Erin Dr. and Meadowvale Town Center Circle.

Emergency services said the fire broke through the ceiling and reached the roof.

The crews had to fight the fire from several floors up, standing on the balcony of the unit.

The fire affected about 36 blocks in the building.

Many neighboring houses were also evacuated.

Peel Regional Police say no injuries have been reported so far.

Westbound Battleford Rd. in Glen Erin, Dr. is currently blocked due to ongoing efforts by the Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.

Motorcyclists are encouraged to avoid the area and take alternative routes.

Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services is advising residents of the uninsured townhouse complex to travel to Meadowvale Community Center. The Social Services and the Canadian Red Cross were created to provide shelter, food, clothing and medicine.
