Top Gun: Maverick secures another victory at the local weekend box office with a second flight of $ 86 million

Top Gun: Maverick won its second home box office victory by earning $ 86 million in ticket sales, placing it in the top 10 of the most profitable second weekend in the history of the domestic box office.

According to Variety, Top Gun: Maverick has now grown to $ 291 million in North America and has officially become Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film at the national box office. In addition, the film fell just 32% from its initial weekend of $ 160 million and has now seen, according to Comscore, “the smallest drop in the second weekend for a film that opened to $ 100 million or more.”

By comparison, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fell 67 percent in their second weekend, and The Batman fell 50 percent.

Internationally, Top Gun: Maverick grossed $ 257 million and did his part to help the film reach $ 548 million worldwide.

Maverick had little in the way of competition, but David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future had a limited edition, bringing in $ 1.1 million from 773 theaters in the country. Maverick, on the other hand, played in 4,751 theaters.

Dr. Strange ranked second in the multiverse of madness with $ 9.3 million in the domestic market, bringing his global record to $ 909.4 million worldwide. The Bob’s Burgers Movie again finished third with $ 4.5 million, The Bad Guys finished fourth with $ 3.3 million, and Downton Abbey: A New Era rounded out the top five with $ 3 million.
