Detectives are investigating an incident in which a rifle was fired at a Leeds address today.

At 3:25 p.m. Sunday, armed officers were stationed at Elmet Way, Swarcliffe, following reports of a firearm being fired.

Officials confirmed that a window in the property was damaged, which corresponds to a shot from a rifle. No one was injured.

There is a forensic site and specialized investigations and investigations into the incident are ongoing, led by the Homicide Squad and the West Yorkshire Police Investigation Team.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, gunmen searched an address on Rosgill Drive just before 8 p.m.

Senior Investigator and Superintendent Detective Emma Winfield said: “The criminal use of firearms is something we will always take very seriously and conduct extensive investigations to establish the full circumstances and track down and arrest those responsible.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has witnessed any part of this incident or who has any information that could help the investigation.

“We believe that an incident of this nature will cause understandable concern in the community and we will continue to liaise with our colleagues in Leeds County, who will maintain an increased presence in the area to reassure people.”
