A special weather forecast issued for the GTA is coming to an end

A special weather report for the Toronto region, which reports strong winds, has ended.

Environment Canada issued the recommendation on Friday afternoon, as winds with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour are expected to hit the region.

The agency warned that gusty winds would further damage trees and structures that have already been weakened by recent storms.

On Thursday, the area was hit by a fast-growing series of thunderstorms that brought heavy hail and strong winds. Tornado and clock warnings have been issued in parts of eastern Ontario.

Western University’s Northern Tornado Project tweeted Friday that it was investigating possible tornadoes during Thursday’s storm, including one near Oshawa.

The special weather forecast ended late Friday night.

After a windy weekend, Environment Canada said it would be clear and sunny on Saturday and Sunday, with maximum temperatures around 20 C.
