Jaylin Holton, 21-year-old driver, killed by a bullet fired at a Philadelphia bar, police say

What began with a billiards argument ended with the deadly shooting of a young woman in the head at the back of a bar in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

21-year-old Jaylin Holton was reluctant to go out with friends to a gathering, according to a Fox 29 report. “LIFE, FREEDOM, BEER”. The Northeast neighborhood bar hosts a billiard league night on Tuesday at its only pool table – which eventually started the deadly violence.

At some point in the evening, three visitors arrived hoping to play at the pool table, only to find that it was busy, according to the report. One of the men in the group erupted in rage that he could not play, which led to a killer who kicked everyone out of the bar. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., one of the men opened fire on the site about 200 feet before fleeing in a dark pickup truck, cops said.

Of the 15 shots fired, 10 hit the building, but five hit the bar’s front windows. One of these bullets struck Jailin – who was believed to have been in the back of the bar when she was hit. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers and medics “found a 21-year-old woman lying on the floor lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head,” adding that “she did not respond.”

Doctors tried to save her life with emergency surgery, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital at 4 am. Another man in his thirties was being treated for injuries caused by broken glass, but none of the other 20 or so customers at the bar or four employees were injured in the indiscriminate shooting, according to a Fox 29 report.

Family members later confirmed to the media the identity of the victim as Jailene.

“And the hardest part is that she never goes out,” her mother reportedly told Fox 29. Her uncle, James Holton, criticized Philadelphia’s progressive district attorney, Larry Krasner, in an interview with CBS3. “Krasner has to let the police do their job,” Holton said. “Krasner, the mayor, anyone else in charge. Let the police do their job. Stop handcuffing them. Stop pampering yourself with these criminals and hold people accountable. How many children in the city will die? I mean, don’t you get tired of listening to it every day? ”

Jaylin’s death is just one of hundreds killed in Philadelphia so far this year. According to police data, there were 254 murders in Philly on Tuesday in 2022, which is somehow 6 percent lower than at the same time in 2021 – the year in which the City of Brotherly Love recorded 562 murders, the most the bad percentage ever registered in the city.
