Ireland’s rugby team is rallying after a loss against the All Blacks in New Zealand
Ireland’s wait for a win against New Zealand on New Zealand soil continues after the All Blacks won 42-19 in the first game of the three-match series in Auckland on Saturday.
Number eight Ardi Savea scored either side of half-time to help New Zealand avenge their 29-20 loss in Dublin last November and extend their unbeaten run at Eden Park to 47 Tests over 28 years.
Ireland dominated the early exchanges and grabbed a try through wing Keith Earls, repeating the feat through center Gary Ringrose soon after the break and scoring a late consolation through Auckland-born Bundy Aki.
Full-back Jordie Barrett scored a try and converted all six for the All Blacks, while winger Sevu Rees, center Quinn Tupaea and debutant Pita free-forward Gus Sovacula also crossed to help the hosts to a 1-0 lead.

I’M TRYING! Australia 9-11 ENGLAND (Ellis Genge try, 50 mins)
A long pause…and try!

England’s maul is misplaced with Ellis Genge doing very well to hold onto the ball and pass it to Jamie George. Michael Hooper enters the game incorrectly – England will have another shot after another corner kick.

Australia 9-6 England, 46 mins
A hint of space for England as Billy Vunipola sets up a good platform with a first-phase carry and Danny Care is prevented from exploiting it by an errant Australian leg. The upside comes then, with Owen Farrell, the lead illustrator, drawing something hilarious on the right with a bit of a right foot kick…
It’s an attractive prospect for Jack Nowell! Andrew Kellaway misjudges it and suddenly England are looking for further inroads. Australia penalize again… and Lewis Ludlam is forced into touch, so back referee James Dolman will come on.
And England choose the corner!

Freddie Steward takes a kick from Nick White’s box near the right touchline and does well to keep his limbs in the box. Marcus Smith took the line twice but failed to find the half-gap, and the second time he lost control of the ball.
Andrew Kellaway shoots from the right and Owen Farrell takes it into touch.

PENALTY! AUSTRALIA 9-6 England (Noah Lolesio penalty, 43 mins)
Virtually a copy and paste of the penalty that leveled Australia at half-time – Noah Lolessio put the home side ahead for the first time.

Half-time change for England – Louis Ludlam is there in place of Tom Curry and immediately sets about his defensive work, while Marika Coroibete heads infield with intent straight to the reserve wing.
Maro Itoje is penalized for going down. Johnny Hill’s spell in the sin bin comes to an end as Noah Lolesio looks to the posts again.

The second half is underway!
Still 14 vs 14 for now.

Back there
Both sides pop up there. England have already lost once this summer to a 14-man squad after an Australian back-row was sent off – what’s the price for twice?

H/T: Australia 6-6 England
I think Eddie Jones will be relatively pleased with the way his side have won their clashes this half, but he will be hoping they can more confidently break through the Australian Open when they start to tire. His message at half-time will be key – England probably don’t want to be dragged into anything worse, but their pace in attack is generally good.
Australia, conversely, may appreciate the mess more. Samu Kerevi and Michael Hooper had great halves.

There was a fair relationship between Darcy Swain and Johnny Hill even before this incident. I think a two-handed punch to the Aussie’s face from Hill went unnoticed earlier.
