Genshin Impact’s version 2.8 update, dubbed “Summer Fantasia,” will launch on July 13, developer miHoYo announced.
Here’s an overview of the update via miHoYo:
The Golden Apple Archipelago will once again welcome travelers with brand new areas, fascinating stories, intriguing puzzles and treasures, and a variety of island entertainment. Meanwhile, Diluc and Fischl will have new looks in their new outfits, while Kedahara Kazuha and a bunch of old friends will be revisiting along with new character Shikanoin Heizou.
The upcoming update will start the big seasonal event Summertime Odyssey in the company of Fischl, Xinyan, Kedahara Kazuha and Mona. The Golden Apple Archipelago has undergone a drastic overhaul, adding new realms, extensive gameplay to explore, more treasure chests, and unexpected storylines for the Traveler’s companions. Those who survive these thrilling adventures may then have a chance to hire the four-star hero Fischl for free.
The Golden Apple Archipelago also offers refreshing island entertainment, whether players are traveling alone or with friends. During the “Resonating Visions” event, players can collect special shells that carry tales and messages and redeem Fischl’s new outfit. With the latest co-op event ‘Reminiscent Regimen’, players can set sail with friends together and complete various challenges at sea.
Meanwhile, on land, Diluc, Kaedehara Kazuha, and new four-star Shikanoin Heizou will get their own events and stories. Diluc will receive a new outfit featuring a distinctive appearance, a new idle animation, and new effects available in the shop at a discount for a limited time. The outfit also carries a backstory that can be found in the “Hidden Strife” challenge. Another character Kaedehara Kazuha is also ready to reveal more about himself with the first chapter of his Story Quest opening soon. Additionally, his friend Shikanoin Heizou, a young genius crime solver for the Tenryou Commission, will premiere in version 2.8. And players are welcome to join Heizou as a detective for a day in his Hangout event.
In battle, Shikanoin Heizou is notable as the first melee catalyst user in the game. He can deal Ameno damage with powerful punches and kicks, and can even deal extra elemental damage to enemies hit by Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro. Heizou will be available in the Event Wishes of the Kaedehara Kazuha and Klee replay in the early phase of version 2.8. Yoimiya’s event wish will be available in the later phase of the update.
Genshin Impact is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via client and Epic Games Store, iOS via App Store and Android via Google Play. A Switch version is also planned.
