A toddler was found drowned after allegedly being killed by her mother – with two siblings under the age of five and the mother herself still missing after the children’s father reportedly killed himself.
Cops in Maplewood, Minnesota say they found the body of a child as of Friday evening. It is not clear what the gender of the victim is, although all three child victims are under the age of five.
Meanwhile, the children’s unnamed mother remains missing. Police believe she may have killed her children and then herself after her husband shot himself in the family home earlier Friday morning.
The husband has been identified only as Koss by his sister Pa Lee, who shared the news of her siblings’ tragic deaths on Facebook, as well as the discovery of the bodies of one of Koss’ children and fears the late father’s other two children too are dead.
It remains unclear what triggered the tragic chain of events.
A spokesperson for the Maplewood Police Department said that around 4:00 p.m. on July 1, authorities were called to Vadnais Lake on a report of a possibly suicidal mother who had traveled there with her children.
Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said investigators determined the children went into the water with their mother in an apparent suicide, as the children’s shoes and the mother’s car were found near the water.
That spokesman confirmed that a child had been found dead. Sheriff Fletcher told the media that this is being treated as a triple homicide.
The children’s father, identified by the name Koss in several social media posts. His sister wrote on Facebook: “Goodbye forever my best brother.” He is believed to have shot himself at the family home in Maplewood, Minnesota this morning. Cops now fear his wife – who has not been named – drowned the couple’s three young children in a nearby lake and also killed herself

Investigators said the children’s father killed himself with one of his two handguns in his bedroom while wearing pajamas
Authorities vowed to continue searching for the missing children and their mother through the night
Officials have confirmed that the lakeside horror is related to a suicide at the Rolling Hills Estates mobile home park earlier in the day.
The man who killed himself in the trailer park is the father of the children and the husband of the missing woman.
All children are under the age of five. Fletcher said: “There seems to be a terrible set of facts unfolding. We don’t know for sure all three children, but we recovered one child. There is nothing more tragic than the loss of young children.
Authorities said the search and rescue team would continue to search through the night.
The sister of the children’s father wrote on Facebook on the morning of the suicide: “Goodbye forever, my best brother. Why do you make me angry and sad at the same time? I’m so sorry I’m 20 minutes late and I can’t help you.’
She added: “I was driving so fast to help you and stop you but I still couldn’t. I’m sorry I failed you in this life and was too late to help you. If only I was faster, then you’d be alive.
The father has been identified in several social media posts as Koss.
In a series of videos released by family members, investigators revealed the children’s father killed himself in his bedroom while in his pajamas.
One of these videos shows the bedroom being searched.
A family member suggested the father owned more than one gun and that he used the “bigger” to take his own life.
Other videos showed large members of the Hmong community around the lake, staying close to police as the search continued into the night.
The Twin Cities area is home to the largest concentration of Hmong people in the United States with more than 66,000 calling the area home.
