2022 WWE Money in the Bank Results, Ratings: Liv Morgan cashes in on Ronda Rousey, wins SmackDown Women’s Title

Liv Morgan can finally declare herself world champion. Morgan and the WWE Universe celebrated her successful capture of the Money in the Bank briefcase on Saturday night. The energy only escalated when she successfully defeated Ronda Rousey to claim the SmackDown Women’s Title.

Fans have long wanted to see Morgan’s rise to the main event. Their commitment was rewarded when WWE finally pulled the trigger on her title campaign.

Meanwhile, on the men’s side, none of the announced superstars for the main event claimed the briefcase as that honor went to a surprise entrant.

CBS Sports was with you all the way through the event, providing updates and highlights of the action.

2022 Money in the Bank Results, Ratings

Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match – Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins vs. Riddle vs. Sami Zayn vs. Madcap Moss vs. Sheamus vs. Omos vs. Theory: Theory was a late addition to the match announced by authority figure Adam Pearce. It was teased during the match that Vince McMahon had given the spot to Theory after he lost the United States Title to Bobby Lashley earlier in the night. Zayn took some serious abuse early on as Moss tossed and slammed him into various stairs. Riddle was crazy the whole time. The highlight of the match saw the best bro land the Floating Bro off the ladder onto his opponents. Omos ran over the competition for a moment, but his size eventually got the better of him. The rest of the field rallied, lifted him high, and drove him across the speaker’s table. McIntyre was about to get the briefcase but was interrupted by Butch. Riddle took Rollins out of the equation with a Super RKO off the stairs. The victory was almost his, but Theory swooped in at the last moment and captured the briefcase. Competitors place their bodies on the lines with multiple large spots. It was a chaotic game with a number of credible opponents. It probably won’t go down as the greatest Money in the Bank ladder match, but it was a lot of fun. Theory def. Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Riddle, Sami Zayn, Loudcap Moss, Sheamus and Omos to win the Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase. Grade: B+

SmackDown Women’s Championship — Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Liv Morgan: Morgan didn’t wait long to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase. Rousey was noticeably limping during and after her successful title defense against Natalya. The crowd erupted as Morgan’s music hit and the ringside announcer confirmed that she was cashing in her briefcase. Rousey grabbed an extended ankle lock, leading fans to wonder if WWE was about to spoil Morgan’s big moment. Morgan eventually counters into a rollup for a three count. The crowd roared with delight as Morgan’s crowning moment came to pass. The roll-up performance was messed up, but who cares? It was a feel good moment; sometimes that’s all there is to pro wrestling. The Las Vegas crowd chanted “You deserve it” as Morgan held up his world title. Liv Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey (c) to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. Degree: A

SmackDown Women’s Championship — Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Natalya: Money in the Bank’s (scheduled) penultimate match was mixed. Moments of victory — such as when Rousey and Natalya traded finishers — were well received. The chain match exchange went well enough, but there were a number of glaring issues with the match. Natalya’s surprise attack didn’t have much of an impact and Rousey went overboard a few times. Most notably, Rousey stormed out of the ring with almost no input from Natalya. Trading holds for submissions at the end was a nice touch, with Rousey finally securing her trademark armbar. Ronda Rousey (c) def. Natalya via submission to retain the title. Grade: C+

WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championships – The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford): Ford is usually seen as the A-side of the Street Profits, but Dawkins really shined in this match. His front flip outside dive was stellar and his 360 enziguri kick was absurd for someone his size. The match oozed charisma. Ford repeatedly telling the Usos to “suck” him off the top rope drew a huge reaction from the fans. Jimmy and Jay were at their best. Both teams hit hard, believable shots. The mid-match break dragged on too long, but the drama and intensity of the back half of the match made up for it in full. The live crowd was fired up for a near fall for both teams. Ford did – as he often does – steal the show by landing a front dive over the corner post outside. The Usos secured the title after tossing Dawkins to the outside and setting up Ford with the 1-D. After the match, it was revealed that Ford’s shoulder was actually off the mat, casting doubt on the outcome and setting up a rematch later on. The Usos (c) def. Street wins via pinfall to retain the undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. Degree: A

Raw Women’s Championship — Bianca Bellaire (c) vs. Carmella: Bellaire and Carmella had a short but solid match. Both women made an impressive attack and the whole match was clean. Belair showed off his wick athleticism with powerbombs and backflips. Carmella had no problem getting boos from the crowd. Carmella’s post-match attack on Belair felt unnecessary, but it didn’t take or add to the match. Bianca Belair (c) def. Carmella via pinfall to retain her Raw Women’s Championship. Degree: B

United States Championship — Theory (c) vs. Bobby Lashley: The crowd was solidly in Lashley’s corner, erupting in countless “Lashley” chants. Theory excelled as his usual mischievous self, drawing jeers from the audience. Lashley’s strengths included an impressive military press catch and Theory’s diving catch to the outside. Theory’s movements were fluid and his punches looked very crisp. Theory eventually fell victim to Lashey’s injured strand and was forced into submission. Solid match from both participants. Bobby Lashley defeated Austin Theory (c) via submission to capture the United States Championship. Degree: B

Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match — Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Asuka vs. Liv Morgan vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Lacey Evans vs. Shotzi: The match suffered from a number of cheesy spots, from an early exchange between Asuka and Lynch to a rough post squat spot with Rodriguez. Lynch’s leap off the ladder and Morgan’s bounce off the top rope to win the match helped even things up. Morgan threw Lynch off the ladder and took the briefcase. The live crowd was horrified by Morgan’s win. The right woman absolutely won and it looked like WWE was ready to pull the trigger on Morgan as world champion. Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch, Aska, Alexa Bliss, Raquel Rodriguez, Lacey Evans and Shotzi to win the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase. Degree: B
