Two people were killed and a civilian and three police officers were injured with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by a gunman in Haltom City, police confirmed on Saturday.
Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 6:45 p.m. Saturday and upon arrival found a woman shot inside the residence and a man dead in the driveway. An elderly woman was also injured, who called emergency services, but her life was not in danger.
Police in Haltom City confirmed a shootout between the suspect and officers where injuries were confirmed. The three police officers who were shot are being treated at nearby hospitals and are expected to recover.
The shooter also died, police confirmed, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found near the 3900 block of Golden Oaks with a rifle and a handgun.
Haltom Township police earlier asked residents in the area of Glenview and Denton Freeways to stay indoors as they continue to search for the suspect. The area is now considered safe.
