According to Shams Charania and several other sources, the Chicago Bulls have signed Goran Dragic to a one-year contract worth the veteran minimum. The Mavericks, according to Marc Stein, are choosing to keep their final roster spot open, citing a need for wing depth, according to his sources.
I can confirm that Goran Dragic has agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bulls, per a source that @ShamsCharania had 1st.
Nikola Vucevic, as I was told, played an important role in this situation.

It seems that, at least in Chicago, players have a role in bringing in new teammates.
Although Dragic is a player in the twilight of his career, he has shown time and time again that he is a big-time player and the Mavericks need a player like him. Also, after losing Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks, they just need ball players. Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie are the only players included that fans should feel comfortable running the offense.
This is further disappointing because it now marks the fourth time the Mavericks and Dragic have been tied with each other. There was a draft night trade with the Heat in 2019 that fell through for unknown reasons. Last season, when Dragic was traded to Toronto, there were indications that he could become a Maverick somehow, either through a trade or an outright buyout. Then, when his buyout didn’t come until later in the season, the expected signing didn’t materialize as Dragic reportedly wanted more opportunities than the Mavericks could offer. Now, the Mavericks are watching Doncic’s mentor sign elsewhere while they wait on the market for a moment that may never come.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks have consistently reported that they only have one roster spot available. Dallas can cut Frank Ntilikina today to open up a no-cost roster spot, but his contract becomes fully guaranteed tomorrow. So they could have two roster spots if they choose.
It has been an incredibly disappointing offseason to date for the Dallas Mavericks and the fans. Perhaps there is another move around the corner once the dust settles with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, as that appears to be an element of what the Mavericks are hoping to get into. Otherwise, this could be chalked up to a very bad offseason after the Dallas Mavericks’ best regular season since the 2011 championship.
