World No. 5 Tsitsipas was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct – the biggest total fine of the tournament so far.
After the match, he apologized for hitting a ball into the stands, which is considered a separate infraction under Grand Slam rules.
Kyrgios, who won the match in four sets and faces American Brandon Nakashima in the fourth round on Monday, was fined $4,000 for an audible profanity.
It means the Aussie has been fined $14,000 so far this tournament, having been fined for spitting in the direction of a spectator he said disrespected him during his first-round match against Britain’s Paul Jubb.
After Saturday’s heated contest, Tsitsipas and Kyrgios continued to exchange harsh words off the court, with the Greek fourth seed calling his opponent “evil” and a “bully” while Kyrgios said Tsitsipas was “not liked” in the dressing room.
“I didn’t do anything disrespectful to Stephanos today,” he added. “I didn’t punch him in the balls. To come in here and say I bullied him, that’s just soft.”
Kyrgios has courted controversy throughout his career, but at this year’s Wimbledon he also played some of his best tennis – notably beating Filip Krajnovic in just one hour and 25 minutes in the second round.
The 27-year-old has reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament on two previous occasions – a record he can equal by defeating Nakashima when the pair meet on Center Court.
