The victim of a shooting in the northeast community of Falconridge Monday morning has died, according to Calgary police.

A spokesman said police are investigating the death of a man after officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 0-100 block of Falsby Way NE shortly before 11 a.m. The man’s death is being investigated as suspicious and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

As police canvassed the area Monday afternoon, several roads near Falsby Way and 54th Street NE were closed and nearby homes were evacuated by officials.

Calgary police searched the neighborhood for witnesses or security camera video of the incident.

A man and woman were seen being detained by police in the early afternoon on Monday.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this shooting to call the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or calgarycrimestoppers.org.

The shooting comes a day after police found a body in Upper Mount Royal, which is now being investigated by Calgary’s homicide unit.

Police said they received reports of a body in the alley behind the 1100 block of Frontenac Avenue SW around 9:30 a.m. Officers found the man dead in the driveway and investigators are treating the death as suspicious.

Investigators are continuing to speak with local residents and collect surveillance video to determine how the man ended up in the alley. An autopsy will be scheduled for Tuesday.

Police have not yet released the identities of those killed in both incidents. The two deaths are not believed to be related, according to police.
