Trailer for new Trump family documentaries shows footage of January 6 riots

The trailer for director Alex Holder’s long-awaited documentary series focusing on the Trump family before and after last year’s Capitol riot has been released and features intense footage of the Capitol building as supporters of the 45th president rage over the results of the 2020 presidential election. – with one shouting, “get the cockroaches out.”

A 2-minute, 24-second trailer, first obtained by Politico, is a glimpse into Holder’s extensive access to the former first family, both at campaign rallies and at the White House, and was among the footage the director subpoenaed of the Special Commission investigating the events of January 6, 2021.

The Discovery+ documentary series — titled “Unprecedented” — includes interviews with the former president; his children, Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric; and son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.

The trailer includes behind-the-scenes glimpses of Holder’s interviews, showing Trump fussing over placing a table with a glass of water on it, Kushner saying, “Is that okay?” while fiddling with his tie, and Ivanka pressing the filmmakers about the appearance of line of your dress.

Excerpts from the interviews are sandwiched between title screens that read: “With exclusive access … to the world’s most controversial family” and “Seizing power is easy … surrender is not.”

One eyebrow-raising piece of footage in the trailer depicts Eric Trump making a phone call in which he says, “For the sake of this country, we’re going to get these guys.” The context of the call is unclear.

Tuesday’s trailer also featured a montage of violence as Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.

At least one rioter is heard saying, “We’ve got to get the roaches out, all of them,” as he points to the building, while another person says, “This is my house,” while holding a letter from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office.

The trailer also includes audio clips describing the former president, with Kushner calling Trump an “unconventional guy” and Donald Jr. saying his father “believes everything he does is right.”

“Trump has always seen his project as dynastic,” one talking head is heard saying.

As the music fades toward the end of the trailer, Trump can be heard faintly in the background asking, “Do you miss me yet?”

Holder appeared before the committee last month and previously said he had “no agenda” going into the project.

“We just wanted to better understand who the Trumps are and what motivates them to hold on to power so desperately. We have submitted all materials requested by the committee and are fully cooperating,” he tweeted on June 21 in response to the subpoena.

The panel is expected to hold at least one more public hearing this month, and then it may release some of Holder’s footage.

A release date for “Unprecedented” has not yet been announced.
