The long awaited God Of War Ragnarök release date has finally been confirmed by Sony. Santa Monica Studio’s sequel to dad-sim will be released on November 9 this year.
A tweet sent by Sony’s official account specified the release date, along with a link to additional information confirming the game’s launch for both PlayStation 4 and 5.
“We’re thrilled to share the release date and brand new trailer for God of War Ragnarök: Father and Son CG,” Santa Monica Studio said in a statement, describing God of War fans as “eagerly awaiting news.”
This, of course, rather belittles the reality of the situation, where the developers have received annoying harassment from such “fans”, including sending pictures of genitalia.

The game’s cinematic producer, Estelle Tigani, had to tweet out a plea for people to stop doing such things last week after people somehow believed it might lead to the release date being announced.
Today’s news is accompanied by a new CG trailer for the game, which of course doesn’t represent what it will look like in real life, but gives a nice taste.

This somewhat confirms a Bloomberg report from last month which suggested that rumors of the game slipping until 2023 were false and that it would arrive in November 2022.
It’s really quite unusual that a game’s release date alone can generate so much attention and hype, especially considering how unreliable such dates almost always are. It’s clear that Sony is pretty confident about this, having waited so long to be sure, but who knows what could happen in the next four months. Slips remain extremely possible.
For those who haven’t yet learned the lesson that you should never, ever pre-order games, you can from July 15th. The PlayStation Blog hosts the following “unboxing” video of the game, along with details on increasingly expensive ways you can buy it.

So here we are. A four month wait unless something goes wrong.
