Guitar legend Carlos Santana collapses on stage during a concert in Michigan

Music legend Carlos Santana collapsed on stage during a concert in Michigan Tuesday night due to overheating and dehydration and is “doing well,” Santana’s manager said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Rock legend Carlos Santana suffered heat exhaustion and dehydration during a concert Tuesday (July 5) night in Michigan,” manager Michael Vrionis said. “The great guitar was taken from his show at the Pine Knob Music Theater…. Carlos was taken to the McLaren Clarkston ER for observation and is doing well… Tomorrow’s July 6th show at The Pavilion at Star Lake (formerly S&T Bank Music Park) in Burgettstown, PA will be postponed to a later date. More details will follow via Live Nation.”

The guitarist was treated by medics after he passed out and was eventually carried off the stage while waving to cheering fans, according to FOX 2 Detroit and fan video from the concert.

Santana, 74, performs at the Pine Knob Music Theatre, an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, Michigan.

The musician released a statement on his Facebook page thanking fans for their concern on Tuesday night.

“Thank you all for your precious prayers Cindy and I, we’re fine, just taking it in stride,” he said, referring to wife Cindy Blackman. “I forgot to eat and drink water so I got dehydrated and passed on blessings and miracles to all of you.”

According to FOX 2, Santana passed out about 40 minutes into his set while performing “Joy.” He is apparently sitting on a ladder and appears to have lost consciousness.

“All of a sudden, the music just stopped,” reported FOX 2 reporter Lori Pinson, who was at the concert. “I didn’t see him collapse on the stage, but everyone was pulling him to the side. All of a sudden there was a chair where there wasn’t one before. The medics started rushing to the stage.”

Officials said the musician was receiving “serious medical attention,” WDIV-TV reported.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see, we have a serious medical emergency,” an audience member announced, according to Ultimateclassicrock.com. “Let’s share our prayers… We need this right now… Please send your light and love to this person.”

A privacy curtain was placed between Santana and the audience while he remained under medical care on stage, and after about 20 minutes he was brought down while waving to fans.

His band Santana is currently on tour with Earth, Wind & Fire for the “Miraculous Supernatural Tour”. The band was scheduled to play in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, which was canceled.
