Joey Chestnut punters refunded after stalls protest hot dog eating contest

The betting line for champion hot dog eater Joey Chestnut was set at 74.5 dogs at this year’s Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Contest. And based on the refunds given Tuesday by some sportsbooks, he might have gotten there, too, had it not been for an intervening protester.

FanDuel and DraftKings are among the books that have announced refunds, refunding any straight bets on Chestnut eating more than 74.5 hot dogs. Honest finished with 63 hotdogs on Monday, good enough to give him his 15th title, but well short of last year’s record of 76.
