Vladimir Putin challenges the West to try to defeat Russia on the battlefield

Vladimir Putin has issued a chilling threat to the West, warning that revenge is futile and that the worst is yet to come in Ukraine. In his speech, the Russian president challenged Western allies to defeat Russia “on the battlefield” as his invasion enters its fifth month. “The West wants to fight us to the last Ukrainian,” Putin said at a meeting with senior Russian government officials. “Let them try. Everyone should know that overall we haven’t even started anything serious yet. At the same time, we do not refuse to hold peace talks, but those who refuse should know that it will be more difficult to agree with us,” he boasted. Despite Putin’s rough talk, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov announced that Russian forces in Ukraine were pausing to rest and restore combat capabilities.
