Philadelphia teens beat 72-year-old man to death with cone in attack caught on video: police

A group of seven teenagers attacked and killed a 72-year-old man in Philadelphia last month with a traffic cone, according to video footage released by the Philadelphia Police Department on Friday.

Disturbing footage of the incident, which occurred June 14, shows a group of apparent teenagers chasing the victim, identified as James Lambert, down the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue in the city’s northwest corridor.

The video shows Lambert trying to get away from the group around 3am.

The teenagers then followed the 72-year-old across the street before one of the attackers attacked him in the back by hitting him with a cone.

The impact knocked Lambert to the ground, at which point one of the females in the group picked up the cone and hit him again with it.

The incident was filmed by other members of the group who also appeared to be smiling and laughing during the attack. Although one of the women appeared surprised by the incident and held her hands over her mouth in a gesture that suggested shock.

The footage showed Lambert appearing to get up to flee the area before being hit again with the cone by the same female attacker.

The teenagers then left the scene as one of the men sped away on a scooter, smiling with another companion.

Police said Lambert was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries the next day.

None of the attackers have reportedly been arrested yet and all seven people who were present at the time of the incident are being sought by the police.

Police have offered a $20,000 reward for information on the individuals, who are described as “four black males and three black females who appear to be early to middle-aged.”
