Shawn Mendes announced that he will be postponing several of his upcoming tour dates with a post that was shared on his Instagram account on Friday.
The 23-year-old singer cited his commitment to his mental health as the reason for the sudden halt to his planned concerts.

Mendes began by writing, “It breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I will have to postpone the next three weeks of shows in Uncasville, CT until further notice.”
The There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back singer expressed that he’s never really liked spending long periods of time away from his loved ones.
“We’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been hard for me to be on the road away from friends and family,” he said.
Mendes stated that although he was previously committed to returning to the tour, he felt it would be best to take a break from his schedule.

“After a few years off the road, I was ready to dive back in, but the decision was premature and unfortunately the costs of the road and the stress caught up with me and I reached a breaking point,” he said.
The hitmaker then noted that he consulted with several people before making the decision to postpone his dates.
“After speaking with my team and mental health professionals, I need some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health first and foremost,” he said.
Mendes finished by writing, “As soon as there are more updates, I promise I’ll let you know I love you guys.”

The artist embarked on a tour in support of his latest studio album Wonder, which was released in December 2020.
The hitmaker subsequently announced that he would be embarking on a North American and European tour in September last year.
Several tour dates have been postponed for a year due to the ongoing state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additional shows were added to the already full schedule this past January.
Purpose: The artist embarked on a tour in support of his latest studio album, Wonder, which was released in December 2020.
The tour kicked off at the Moda Center in Portland on June 27, and the final North American show was scheduled to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark on October 26.
The European leg of the series of shows was due to start in Bologna on 31 May next year and was due to end on 1 August.
Mendes’ final performance took place at the Canada Life Center in Winnipeg on Thursday night.
His next appearance was scheduled to take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
