The A23 has reopened after a fatal crash involving a car and a lorry.
Sussex Police said a 23-year-old man from Cuckfield died in the collision.
Emergency services were called at 5.15am this morning (Sunday July 10) to the incident near Bolney.
Emergency vehicles were at the scene for most of the day
Investigating officers want to speak to the occupants of a dark Ford that stopped at the scene but left before police arrived.
The vehicle involved in the collision, a black Nissan Qashqai, was traveling against oncoming traffic in the southbound lane before colliding with the articulated lorry.
Police attended the scene along with colleagues from West Sussex Fire & Rescue and SECAmb.
Sadly the driver of the Nissan Qashqai, a 23-year-old man from Cuckfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His relatives have been notified.
