The younger sister of Tesla CEO Elon Musk said she believes her brother will follow through on his much-publicized $44 billion deal to buy Twitter in an interview published over the weekend.
“If he says he’s going to do it, I’m going to believe he’s going to do it,” Tosca Musk, 47, told the Sunday Times in an article published on Saturday.
Elon Musk was set to acquire the social media platform but pulled out of the billion-dollar deal on Friday, saying Twitter had failed to provide information about fake accounts on its platform despite repeated requests.
Tosca said her family doesn’t think twice about taking risks when the reward is high.
“A lot of people will say things won’t work because they’re not used to taking risks,” she told the Times. “With us, it’s like, well, nobody’s done it before. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
It is unclear whether Tosca was interviewed and made the statements before or after she learned her brother had backed out of the deal.
Elon’s termination of the deal followed a long-running “will they or won’t they” saga after the world’s richest man delayed the buyout for several months until Twitter could prove that spam and bot accounts made up less than 5 percent of users. He first signed off on the $44 billion deal in April.

The social media company is assembling a high-profile legal team to sue Elon over the termination, Bloomberg News reported Sunday.
Elon could be forced to pay more than $1 billion in a breakup fee if the court rules in favor of Twitter.
