A Lethbridge gymnastics coach has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.
On July 5, police responded to allegations of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old child while the child was attending a session at the Lethbridge Gymnastics Academy on the 3200 block of 32 Street North.
An investigation by the Lethbridge Police Service alleges the assaults took place in May and June 2022.

Jamie Ellacott, 33, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
Ellacott was released from custody after a temporary release hearing from the court on Wednesday. His release was subject to a number of conditions, including: – no contact with the victim – no contact or communication directly or indirectly with anyone under the age of 16 except in the presence of a responsible adult – a ban on visiting public swimming areas, school and schoolyard, day care, youth shelter or public library – it is prohibited to seek or hold any employment or volunteer position involving a position of trust or authority over a person under the age of 16

LPS officials also notified the Alberta Gymnastics Federation, the sport’s provincial governing body.
The federation said it suspended Ellacott after being informed of his arrest. The 33-year-old cannot attend AGF or Gymnastics Canada events or activities in any capacity.
“The Alberta Gymnastics Federation is committed to promoting and maintaining a safe, healthy and inclusive sporting environment where all AGF members can participate in activities that are free from abuse, mistreatment, harassment and discrimination,” it said in a statement.
“We encourage all participants to report any form of abuse.”
Lethbridge police said no other victims have been identified or come forward at this time.
