Highway 1 is closed in both directions near Belle Plaine, Sask. which is between Regina and Moose Jaw.
RCMP said around 6 a.m. CST, officers were on scene investigating in the area.
The highway hotline says drivers can expect delays of up to six hours as RCMP direct traffic onto grid roads to get around the blockade.
RCMP said it is not known how long the highway closure will last.
