All weather reports point to a line of severe thunderstorms moving into southwest and west-central Lower Michigan late tonight. Here is a timeline and location of a possible line of storms.
Here is the radar forecast from 6pm tonight until 10am Sunday. The first line of thunderstorms making landfall in Michigan from Muskegon south to the Indiana state line is the line of storms that can cause severe weather.

The line of storms should weaken as it moves across southern Lower Michigan, but will remain as strong thunderstorms across Lansing, Jackson, and possibly Ann Arbor and Detroit.
Notice the second larger area of rain and storms after the line of severe weather. The second zone has widespread rain that brings a good chance of beneficial rain for much of the southern half of Lower Michigan.
A possible severe thunderstorm watch is from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the Lake Michigan shore. Strong storms move quickly. Expect the line of storms to reach the Ann Arbor and Detroit areas by midnight.
The primary threat is gusty winds of 60 to 70 mph early in the thunderstorms. As the storms move inland toward Kalamazoo, Lansing and Jackson, any strong gusts will likely diminish.
