1 person dead and 3 injured after multiple shootings in Montreal

Multiple shootings in Montreal on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning left one person dead and three others injured.

The victims include an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, who are in hospital in critical condition after suffering what Montreal police spokeswoman Marian Aller-Morain said were “several” gunshot wounds. Officials “fear for their lives.”

Authorities found the pair after responding to a 911 call at 11 p.m. about shots fired near the intersection of Ashe Avenue and Dick-Irwin Street in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighborhood of Sud-Ouest.

Allaire-Morin said preliminary information suggests one suspect opened fire after an argument. The suspect then fled.

As of 4:30 a.m., police had not made any arrests, but investigators found shell casings on the ground and a gunshot wound to a building. Forensics and a K-9 team were also called to the scene.

The second shooting incident, according to the spokesman, appears to have involved a drive-by that was headed for a business near the intersection of Avenue Dollar and Rue de Saguenay in the LaSalle neighborhood.

No one was hurt. Police found gunfire at the building and Allaire-Morin said a vehicle was seen leaving the area, but no arrests have been made. Investigators and a K-9 team were set to search the scene Thursday morning.

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after the third shooting incident near the intersection of avenue Ronald and chemin Avon in Montréal-Ouest around 2 a.m.

Allaire-Morin said the victims were driving west on Ronald when they were shot. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger was sent to hospital with a life-threatening upper body injury. A third passenger from their car fled on foot, the SPVM reports.

Police say they found “potential” suspects “not far” from the crime scene. The persons have been detained and a conversation with the investigators is pending.

Investigators were also at the crime scene Thursday morning.
