A silver truck crashes into a light pole at an Airdrie residential garage

An Airdrie man is facing charges after he allegedly crashed a silver Dodge truck into a light pole in the Airdrie neighborhood Wednesday night.

The incident is believed to have happened shortly before 10pm in the Stonegate neighborhood when police received two reports of a silver Dodge truck crashing into something. The first was a light pole, followed by a nearby residential garage.

Police were able to identify the driver as an Airdrie resident. He was taken into custody and faces a number of provincial charges, including refusing to remain at the scene of a collision, driving without a license and operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the collision.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver’s license was suspended under the terms of Alberta’s Immediate Roadside Penalty Program.
