The man accused of killing a young couple in a drunken driving crash near Trochu, Alta. he was released on bail last month.
Richard Bell, 42, is charged with impaired driving causing death and three other charges.
Police say he was under the influence on June 17 when the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a car on Highway 21 north of Trochu, pushing it across the center line and into the path of an oncoming semi.
Macy Boyce, 20, and Ethan Halford, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Court documents show Bell has a long and serious criminal record but no previous driving offences.
He was released on $5,000 bond and will have to follow strict conditions, including a driving ban.
“Today’s decision is really does this meet the consequences of the events that took place that took the lives of Macy and Ethan?” said Cory McPherson, Macy’s mother. “We now face the results of a 100 percent preventable violent crime that led to the deaths of Maisie Boyce and Ethan Halford.”
