A number of eastern health emergency services have closed next week due to staff shortages

Emergency services are unavailable for extended periods at two eastern health facilities, while a third will be closed for a 24-hour period.

Beginning Monday, August 1 at 8:00 a.m. and continuing through August 8, the emergency services at the Dr. William H. Newhook Community Health Center in Whitburn will be closed due to staff shortages.

Also beginning August 1, US Memorial Medical Center in St. Lawrence will be closed for ten days, reopening on Wednesday, August 10. Family clinics and outpatient laboratory services will continue by appointment.

Bonavista Peninsula Health Center will be closed Monday, 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.

Patients who require immediate care are asked to call 9-1-1 or go directly to the nearest emergency room.
