An evacuation order has been issued by the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District for communities near the Keremeos Creek wildfire that was discovered on Friday.

The order covers Green Mountain Road between Hwy. 3A to the south, Apex Mountain Road to the north and in the general vicinity of Ford Lake.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and the BC Wildfire Service says it is exhibiting “aggressive” and “volatile” behavior.

The service says the fire is burning in an area that cannot be used to support air tankers and heavy machinery, but those resources are on standby.

It says 50 BC Wildfire Service personnel are already deployed to the fire.
