The swimmer “in distress” on Guelph Lake was later pronounced dead

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE NEWS RELEASE ***************************** On July 31, 2022, at 6:15 p.m., the Police at Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a swimmer in distress near Guelph Lake Island in the Guelph Lake Conservation Area.

Wellington County OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and local fire departments attended the scene and began searching for the missing swimmer.

Around 7:30 p.m., the swimmer was located and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
