By Millar Hill Aug 1, 2022 12:25 pm

After a weekend of sunshine and lots of heat, residents of southwestern Ontario may want to consider staying indoors on Monday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for almost all counties in the southern part of the province.

Monday’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 28C, but it will feel like 36C with humidity in most parts of the region.

Local rainfall amounts have increased in the range of 15-25 mm to 20-40 mm, and wind gusts may reach 90 km/h.

The Met Office warns that water-related activities can be dangerous due to strong and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water and the possibility of lightning strikes. It is recommended to take cover immediately if dangerous weather approaches.
