“Extremely” hot and humid weather is expected in Toronto on Wednesday

“Extremely hot and humid conditions” are expected in Toronto on Wednesday, with humidex readings making it feel like it’s almost 43 C outside, Environment Canada says.

The forecast calls for daytime high temperatures of 31 to 33 C and humidity values of 42 to 43, the federal weather agency said.

A special weather forecast is currently in effect in the city.

Wednesday’s overnight lows, forecast to be 21 to 23C, will provide some relief from the heat, he added.

No heat advisory will be issued for Toronto

The Federal Weather Agency says it will not issue a heat warning because daytime high temperatures are not expected to reach the warning threshold Thursday due to the passage of a cold front.

Heat warnings call for hot and humid conditions to last two days, with daytime temperatures of 31C or humidex readings of 40, and nighttime lows of 20C or higher between those two days, it said.

Air quality may deteriorate due to hot and humid air and the Air Quality Health Index may approach the high risk category, it said.
