RCMP: One-year-old child drowns on Lake Winnipeg shore

Manitoba RCMP officers are investigating after a one-year-old child drowned on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.

Police said they learned of the incident, which happened near a house in Behrens River, around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Mounties said a one-year-old boy had gone missing from his home, prompting family members to search the home and surrounding area.

The boy was eventually found in the water along the shore of Lake Winnipeg.

Family members administered first aid and took the child to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing their investigation.
