Wednesday was an active day in southern Ontario as a slow-moving line of storms prompted tornado and flood warnings for many regions.
Extremely hot and humid daytime highs reached the low 30s and felt values were in the low 40s for parts of the countryside. With high humidity and moisture in the atmosphere, conditions were favorable for heavy to heavy rain and damaging wind gusts over 100 km/h.
The storms came in several rounds. The first cluster came in the morning, moving over the central Great Lakes, the Bruce Peninsula and the northern cottage country. While the second cluster or line of thunderstorms extended from Lake Huron to Georgian Bay, affecting the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the cottage during the evening hours.
Weather Network meteorologist Mark Robinson was on the shores of Lake Huron to capture the impact.

The amount of precipitation that fell in parts of Ontario in one day nearly matched the total for the entire month of July.
