Moscow’s Kherson troops almost cut off after Ukrainian strikes damage road and rail bridges

Kherson is across the Dnieper River from supply lines that run from Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.

Using long-range artillery supplied by the West, Ukraine hit the main Antonovsky Bridge that crosses the Dnieper River, a nearby railway bridge and an auxiliary road bridge in the town of Nova Kakhovka.

The Ministry of Defense confirmed that photos leaked this week showing the bridges were badly damaged were genuine and that Russian forces had only been able to make “superficial repairs”.

“Even if Russia manages to make significant repairs to the bridges, they will remain a key vulnerability,” it said.

And on Facebook, Sergey Khlan, an adviser to the Ukrainian governor of Kherson, mocked Russia for destroying the bridges.

“The last bridge that could transport Russian equipment and ammunition is gone,” he said. “The enemy’s logistics have been disrupted.
