EastEnder spoilers follow.
EastEnders has revealed the first look at Holby City star Patsy Kensit in her new role.
As reported earlier this year, the veteran soap star will arrive in Albert Square as Lola Pearce’s long-lost mother Emma after learning her daughter has terminal cancer.
Emma left Lola and her father when her daughter was only 3 years old, so her sudden reappearance at such a delicate time is sure to cause fireworks for Lola and her family.
Producer Chris Clenshaw teased: “We are delighted to welcome the wonderfully talented Patsy to the EastEnders family. She is perfect for the role of such a long-awaited character, about whom we know very little. Soft-spoken and measured, on the one hand Emma is the complete opposite of her long-lost daughter Lola.

“But on the other hand, there is a striking resemblance; successful, the ability to hold her own – if she says she’s going to do something, she’s going to do it – and she’s a fighter, just like Lola. After spending a lifetime apart, Emma is desperate to catch up, but her secret sadness and guilt are never far from the surface.
“The burden of losing her daughter has never left her, but can she find the courage to tell her shocking truth and reconnect with Lola, or will it come too little, too late?” Patsy’s image should set off fireworks in Walford and wreak havoc on the Mitchell household.”
Long-time EastEnders viewers will remember that, like her co-star Jay Brown, Lola was raised by Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) when her parents were dead or away.

Kensit will be familiar to soap viewers from her role as nurse Faye Morton in Holby City, as well as villainous Sadie King in Emmerdale, with other major roles in Lethal Weapon 2 and Tina and Bobby.
Shooting for Kensit’s short film has already begun and she will hit the screens in January.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show is also streamed on BBC iPlayer.
