The town of Elliot Lake is suddenly without a mayor.
Earlier this week, an Ontario Superior Court judge ordered Chris Patrie removed from office after concluding he had violated two sections of Law on Conflict of Interest of Municipalities during his previous term as a municipal councillor.
Patri, who promised to appeal the decision, is silent for now. But the city is moving forward, declaring his seat officially vacant and paving the way for either a by-election or an appointment.
