Combined with a Galaxy smartphone, the latest wearable software updates offer users new ways to capture the world as they hear and see it
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new software updates for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Galaxy Watch series, improving content capture for Galaxy users everywhere. Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones have long offered the ultimate photography and video experience, allowing users to create, capture and share their best moments. Now paired with the latest portable devices, the already powerful Galaxy camera is further enhanced with 360 Audio Recording, the unique feature that brings immersive sound to video content, along with an upgraded camera controller that makes zooming in and out from distance easier. These software updates reflect Samsung’s continued commitment to deliver the most up-to-date experiences on existing devices.
360-degree audio: Capture the world as you hear it
The new 360 audio recording feature[1] enables users to capture sound on video exactly as they hear it. By pairing Galaxy Buds2 Pro with a Galaxy smartphone, anyone can shoot like a pro and capture high-quality, realistic audio for video without the need for bulky professional equipment, anytime, anywhere. The feature captures 360-degree sound using a microphone in each earpiece, placing viewers in the middle of a roaring festival crowd or next to a babbling brook in the middle of a forest. Users can put on connected headphones and play the video on their device or social media channel to hear realistic and immersive sounds that emulate an in-person experience.
360 Audio Recording is the first feature in the Galaxy line to use LE Audio, an advanced new Bluetooth audio standard. This new technology brings better sound quality as well as improved latency and battery life. In addition to providing better-sounding music, LE Audio also expands the spectrum of audio experiences to deliver more complex and rich sound that can be shared with others. LE Audio now brings binaural recording to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro – taking advantage of the left and right microphones simultaneously. When you pair the Buds2 Pro with the Galaxy Z Flip4 or Fold4, users are instantly hooked, benefiting from high-quality stereo audio as well as high-quality video.
Camera Controller: Frame the perfect shot right from your wrist
Photography and videography with Galaxy smartphones is about maintaining creative control in any situation. One example is the Galaxy Watch’s Camera Controller app, which allows users to control their phone’s camera right from their wrist. A new update – coming soon to the Galaxy Watch5 and Watch4 series – adds zoom capabilities to the Camera Controller[2], further expanding the Galaxy camera experience with Galaxy smartphone and Galaxy Watch connectivity. Users can now remotely control their phone’s camera zoom by simply pinching the dial or turning the rotary panel – perfect for taking group photos or solo selfies from a distance and eliminating the need to run back and forth to the camera to frame the perfect picture.
Availability[3]
The new 360 audio recording feature will gradually roll out to Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 via software updates starting today1. The updated Camera Controller feature will be available on the Galaxy Watch5, Watch5 Pro, Watch4 and Watch4 Classic starting February 2. These new wearable features are expected to provide more powerful synergies with the new Galaxy camera capabilities – offering new and never-before-seen experiences.
