4 people including 2 children transported to hospital after explosion at Kitchener home

Four people, including two children, were transported to the hospital after an explosion at a Kitchener home late Wednesday night, police said.

Waterloo Regional Police say they were called to a home in the area of ​​Elm Ridge Drive and Queen’s Boulevard around 11:40 p.m. after “an explosion occurred in a residence causing extensive damage.”

Two adults, a man and a woman, were transported to a hospital outside the region with serious injuries, police said.

Two children were transported by Waterloo Region Paramedics to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A bus has been brought in to house residents displaced by the explosion, and the Red Cross is assisting them.

“At this stage, the cause of the explosion has not been established,” police said.

Ontario police and fire officials are investigating the explosion.
