One of the NFL’s busiest off-season seasons in terms of blockbuster moves has finally calmed down before the 2022 draft so far. A day after Browns’ Baker Mayfield turned to its inevitable ugly breakup with Cleveland, NFL Media reports that quarterback Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are at a standstill in contract negotiations, with the former No. 1 generally not playing for Arizona without a new deal. . Both Murray and the Cardinals have publicly downplayed the rift, which has reportedly widened in recent months, but other teams are actively lurking as they fail to reach a long-term joint agreement.
Does this mean that separation is inevitable? No. Technically, the Cardinals have Murray, 24, under contract until 2022 and possibly until 2023, if they exercise his fifth annual option. But the foundation was laid for the escalation of this problem: Murray’s agent put detailed public pressure on Arizona back in February, all of which did not require a cost-effective extension; and the actual detention in the spring / summer will place the burden on the cardinals to consider selling the Pro Bowl QB to a dealer willing to meet Murray’s requirements.
Crazy things happened. Just look at what happened to Tom Brady, Deshon Watson, Matt Ryan and countless others this offseason. If Arizona made commercial inquiries about Murray, who would surely bring a Watson level draw for its rise, which teams could be logical landing sites? Here are 10, with Cardinal Seahawks rival rivaling Arizona on the assumption that Arizona will never beat Murray in the same division:
They stretched the red carpet for Watson, and even knocked out Matt Ryan for a meager choice in the third round. So they would certainly – and sensibly – consider it. The problem is that they have almost no money to spend, and even if they manipulate the limit to add it, they will have zero money to create a fruitless list around it.
It would take serious maneuvers with caps, and even then the new regime would not have much to spend. But Brian Dabol knows the value of the elite double threat in QB. In an ever-wide-open NFC East, who can say that New York could not surprise sooner or later by using its premium assets (two top 10 picks in 2022) to secure a new face for the franchise?
They only pay high-class spare money to Mitchell Trubiski and they will certainly not be guaranteed equal talent with the 20th overall pick. With ready-to-play protection and an improved O-line, the addition of Murray can instantly move them deeper into the playoffs. The problem is that their player in the first round is later and they do not have many other additional choices to deal with.
They are given to Ryan Tanehil, but mostly because of his contract, which can be partially released in a potential trade elsewhere. Yes, Tanehil helped them form contenders for the playoffs, but he probably reached his peak, while Murray would give Tennessee a long-term, higher weapon for an already focused attack. However, they also do not have much in the way of additional capital project.
Contrary to popular belief, veteran Jared Goff is no longer immobile; it could be cut after June 1 to save more than $ 10.5 million. They need a long-term response below the center and their fans will be revived by talent like Murray, who would go well with underrated playmakers like D’Andre Swift and DJ Chark. More importantly, they have ammunition to make it work, with two players in the first round in 2022 and 2023.

Yes, they are only a year away from making Zack Wilson 2 in general, but Murray, who is only two years older, is what they are praying for Wilson to become. With two first and two seconds in this year’s draft, not to mention the extra space, they can afford to take a serious swing to shake the AFC East, especially after reinforcing some other holes in the list.
For better or worse, Davis Mills of the third round of 2021 may prevent them from making a QB in early 2022. But he wouldn’t – or shouldn’t – stop them from making a car here. They still need a long-term response, and Murray, who is from Texas, has proven that it can be. They also have the ammunition (two first in each of the next three years) to move immediately from one talent from the top 10 (Watson) to another.
They tried on Watson, so they would definitely try on Murray. Yes, they have paid James Winston as a short-term incumbent ever since, but they could send him to Arizona for a moment. With two of the best choices in 2022, they could make a strong offer and use their infamous hat manipulation to squeeze it, pairing it with Alvin Camara and Michael Thomas to compete in the NFC South right away. .
They continue to claim to be committed to Jalen Hurts in 2022, but only after considering potential improvements and shifting their project capital to position themselves for a potential reset in 2023. Murray is the kind of short-term and long-term star that would could immediately bring them back into the dispute, and aggressive general manager Howie Roseman, who was mostly quiet out of season, has two first points in 2022 and 2023. As a bonus, offensive assistant Aaron Moorhead serves on Texas A&M staff during the real freshman Murray’s season there.
They are most desperate for QB. Unless they risk reaching a leading perspective in the draft, they will enter 2022 – a potential year to create or break for the team – with struggling Sam Darnold at the center. There is no doubt that they would give up the general election № 6 if it meant securing Murray, giving Matt Ruhl his most talented QB to date and giving guys like Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore a chance to surprise in NFC South. They are currently leading the NFL in 2022, so money will not be a problem.
