Police have charged a man with second-degree murder after human remains were found behind a Guelph business Wednesday afternoon.

Guelph police said they received information Monday that a homicide had occurred at a downtown apartment the previous day.

Police spokesman Scott Tracy said the investigation led police to search several locations downtown and along the Speed River by boat.

Officers eventually found the body of a man behind a business near the intersection of Wellington Street East and Wyndham Street South on Wednesday afternoon.
